My Inspiration This Week. 4 women. working in my church office.

my church has many parts. some visible, some invisible, some even mysterious. some talk to each other. some don't. some don't know how.

these 4 women. their efforts. their time. their talents. they used them to weave these many parts in my church into a tapestry, with whatever they could get their hands on. a "thread" here. a "fabric" there. raw annd homemade perhaps. but it kept my church beautiful and warm.

they are my inspiration this week. they have showed me how to love and serve. thank you betty, elaine, jeanne and karen ... in alphabetical order :) ... you ladies are awesome!  ¶ 1:24 PM 0 comments

  For The Love Of God. i met a really good and old friend for dinner on sun. he had given up his really cool job of building mega infrastructures, left to pursue a call from the heart to study theology, got himself a theological/divinity post grad degree, came back to Singapore and turned full time as a pastor. the journey for my friend is amazing. the destination, even more so.

he is one guy that has always been ahead of the curve. smart. driven. and always sufficient. but for the love of God, he gave up everything after 20 years in the commercial world. he left on a high. i found out that his salary today as a pastor is what i would have received as a 22 year-old working in a local bank. i am totally floored by the discovery. it is barely sufficient for his family and on top of that, definitely not equitable for a man his stature. why did he do it?

for the love of God. nothing else explains it. in a way, i do envy him. the freedom to throw caution before God. and to allow God to bring freedom and abundance at His bidding and on His terms. i like that.

  Crown of Life. the life in victory. a promise from God to those who love Him. to those who perseveres in trials and temptations in Him.

it is worth everything to persevere in God when the promise and reward is victory in our lives. if we do the opposite, the reward is death. when we lie and lust so as to gain, and to pleasure ourselves or even protect ourselves, we do them at the expense of trading or giving up our trust and value we have with God, our friends, parents, business partners,etc. The consequence is that it robs us of life's victories. or rather, it brings us death. death to our intimacy with God. death to our value as a person. death to our value in our relationships with our friends, parents, etc.

the book of James tells us to receive God's Word, implanted and take root in us (James 1:21). the Word gives us that power to save our souls. power to persevere in trials and temptation. power to succeed. for that, we are blessed. as God's beloved, we receive the crown of life - the victory of life.

i want that power Lord. help me make it happen always.
